Gratitude for the Village

I think many of us are familiar with the phrase, 'It takes a village' and the meaning behind it. Lately I have felt how true this is for independent musicians like myself. Working my 'day job', directing my children's choirs, teaching my students, writing music, recording music and then trying to find the time to secure gigs and also promote my music. It is overwhelming at times. Too busy with the day job to really promote myself, or attain more students or write more music, but unable to ditch the day job because the income just isn't there yet, and it won't be there until I have time to really nurture the music career . . . you see how it is a kind of trapped situation? But all is not lost - amazing people begin to step forward and offer their help. Dan Lascoskie starts up a YouTube channel for my music. Rick Sky gives me a lead on a possible gig. Thomas Shugar records a song for me when a last minute opportunity presents itself. Donna Lascoskie is sharing my music at her work and inviting co-workers to gigs. Louise from Ten Thousand Villages is putting information about my cd release on their webpage. Ali Waris is sharing my voice with the Eastern side of the world. Rachel is sharing my music with friends in England. Nan took my music to Ireland. Sam took my music overseas too - All these kind folks helping to spread the word, helping to get my music out there. Not to mention the folks coming to my gigs and filling up my tip jar or going on my webpage and adding their email to my mailing list. The groovy folks at CDBaby that make it SO easy to sell my music online. The groovy folks at Host Baby that make it easy for a technology challenged person like myself to operate a webpage. So many people sharing my music with friends, liking my Facebook page, subscribing to my YouTube channel. I am grateful to this 'Village' for all of the help. I could never do all of this on my own. So today, in my first Blog of the new web page I just want to say THANK YOU!!! Thank you to every single person that has offered a boost to my music career. I could never do this on my own, but with all of you supporting me I know that 'Anything Can Happen' <3
