5 WAYS TO SHINE YOUR LIGHT IN DARK TIMES

Recent events in the news have many of us heartbroken as we struggle to make sense of a senseless world. Remember that what we put our focus on will expand, so be careful where you turn your attention in these dark days. This is NOT a suggestion to turn a blind eye  - This is how to see the sorrow  and shine your light brightly anyway.

Ah sweet summertime

Ah sweet summertime, how I adore you! Raspberries abound in the gardens - such sweet treats.  Several evenings this week we sat out in the garden enjoying freshly picked raspberries and smiling at the antics of our two young dogs.

Let's Catch Up!

Return to Javateas

Friday I returned to Javateas for another FABULOUS evening of fun, food, friends and of course.... MUSIC! Earlier that morning I decided to declare a 'Glamorous Shoe Night' for the gig and I was so happy that even with the late notice several people were happy to participate! There was a lot of glamour at Javateas that evening but best of all was the the mutual conclusion we reached that the real key ingredient to Glamour is a 'Fabulous Outlook'!!! So true!

Inaugural Performance at Javateas

Inaugural Performance at Javateas

It was a beautiful Friday evening in March, on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day. We arrived at Javateas around six, planning to set up the sound equipment and then enjoy some dinner before my show . . . .

Key West

I had a WONDERFUL time celebrating my birthday in Key West! Whoo-hoo - best birthday ever! The weather was beautiful and sitting under palm trees by a pool in early February was beyond fantastic! Walking around the very interesting town of Key West, I heard . . .

Since the release

Wow! So much has happend since my new cd, 'Here for YOu' released in November. . . .

The cd release night was an amazing and magical evening and I thank everyone who came and supported my music and shared their smiles and sung along to their favorites. The high I felt after that evening lasted only a short time though. . . .

Music as brightly colored threads

There are some songs and musicians that are so closely woven into the tapestry of my life that the memory and the music are almost indivisible. For example, I can’t make the long drive to Provincetown without listening to the music of Peter Donnelly and Zoe Lewis – two musicians that we’ve met and heard perform countless times on the Cape. Their songs are the background music to all of my happy memories from vacations in Provincetown. So when I wrote the song, ‘Meet me in Provincetown’, . . . .

Gratitude for the Village

I think many of us are familiar with the phrase, 'It takes a village' and the meaning behind it. Lately I have felt how true this is for independent musicians like myself. Working my 'day job', directing my children's choirs, teaching my students, writing music, recording music and then trying to find the time to secure gigs and also promote my music. It is overwhelming at times. Too busy with the day job to really promote myself, or attain more students or write more music, but unable to ditch the day job because the income just isn't there yet, and it won't be there until I have time to really nurture the music career . . . you see how it is a kind of trapped situation? But all is not lost - amazing people begin to step forward and offer their help.
