Ah sweet summertime

Ah sweet summertime, how I adore you! Raspberries abound in the gardens - such sweet treats.  Several evenings this week we sat out in the garden enjoying freshly picked raspberries and smiling at the antics of our two young dogs. Bodhi is our youngest pup. This is her first summer with us. It has been a joy watching her discover her new surroundings. She was picked up by Animal Control as a stray in South Philadelphia and subsequently rescued by PAWS, (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) from where we adopted her. This small town rural living is all new to her. The first time she saw a firefly, she ate it! The second time she saw a firefly, it lit up right in front of her nose and then floated up above her. I saw her lifting her head to watch it go higher and higher above her. I could see the wonder in her eyes. A similar incident happened when a butterfly brushed past her nose. I could almost hear the question in her mind, ‘What was that?’, as she jumped backwards away from it. She eats fallen crabapples, grass and soil. I imagine these would be considered delicacies on the streets of South Philly. On one of these recent relaxing evenings I saw the first hummingbird of the season briefly visit one of our large butterfly bushes. I love those flying jewels. It really lifts my spirits to see hummingbirds, and to eat raspberries, and to take time to enjoy beauty and to see our two rescued pups enjoying their life. These past few evenings I have felt very uplifted. What lifts your spirits? We all need to revive our souls and fill our hearts. How do you revive your soul? How do you lift someone else’s spirits? For me, the most important goal I have with my music is to uplift, encourage, and comfort others. I hope my music does that for you.

Thank you for reading.

Love & fireflies,

Jennifer
